|Size:||Small ( 12 – 30 lbs )|
|Age:||Adult Prime – 6 almost 7 years|
|Breed:||Dachshund (Standard Size)|
It is best for him to be on a Hip/Joint Supplement due to old hip fracture (visible only on xray, not at all in his active lifestyle on our Ranch or on a trail ride) as he was abused early in his life.
|Vaccinations:||Yes, within the last year|
|Reason for Rehoming:||
We have a working Ranch with 3 Purebred “working dogs”(Border Collie and Aussies), that we purchased and then a Weiner dog who literally helps out, but he’s truly more of a lap dog (who was my Niece’s dog when she lived with us in high school, then moved on to college and left her dog with us. We don’t need 4 dogs.
|Preferences for New Home:||
Deserves a Ranch type indoor/outdoor home, with other non-aggresive dogs, room to catch varmits or a job to do, but definitly indoors as well, out of the elements as he likes to snuggle with both people and blankets. Non abusive home (people to animals/dogs to one another). Kept on healthy diet. Letting younger kids know he doesn’t care to be picked him up (he does absolutly fine with adults picking him up at anytime, but lightly growls at younger children picking him up as he was not treated well by the kids at his abusive home).
Asking for a trial basis (using your judgement) just to make sure Buddy is an excellent fit to your home and if he were not to work out, I don’t want him discarded to a Humane Society or passed on to home after home on Craigslist as I feel he is way too AMAZING of a happy, loving dog.

HAPPIEST Ranch Dog Ever! Very Obedient, has manners, and knows multiple commands. Extremely Sweet and Loving. Indoor/Outdoor: Is a snuggler, by himself on the couch armrest, on your lap, beside you on couch, underneath your lap blanket, in his daytime doggie bed, on top of bedspread at night but underneath his blanket, or under the covers with you. Is an excellent RANCH dog, great around vehicles, horses and cattle, killing barn mice and varmits in the fields, and going for horse back rides. Jumps up and down in glee for a Horseback Ride, Car Ride, or a Leash Walk. We are on 100 acres, no fence, have a doggie door, and he stays home at all times. My 4 dogs have their own parameter around the house, and only go off acreage with me on horseback. Knows right from wrong, will tell you he is guilty if done anything wrong. He was rescued as a 1 yr old STUD where he was kicked by owners and xray shows “Healed Hip Fractures”, with absolutly NO outward signs of damage, but to be safe, he is maintaned on a HIP/JOINT Supplement. Because of abusive first home, he DOES NOT like any PHYSICAL fighting (Dogs or People) and is very protective if you say “ow” or play fight/hit. He is also extremely protective of home, but just with aggresive BARKING (I use a BARK COLLAR on him at home for UPS and Visitors, only because I don’t care for little barking dogs). Funny but he is kind of “mothering’”, with a mother-like care (playing, licking), but he doesn’t like other dogs playing/wrestling roughly as he views this as a form of aggression/fighting and feels the need to “play referee” and break them up, only by lightly growling. Needs to stay on strict healthy diet because of hips (weight wise) and stomach digest/excessive farting (no people food, only an excellent dogfood, less than 1/2 cup morning and night, a small scoop of canned on top of dry, his daily Hip/Joint Supplement and a limited amount of daily treats that he sits up and begs for when asked). He will guard things/not leave, that you set on the ground ie: grocery bag with food. Sits on floor and whines quietly that he wants to sit in your lap and will lick your hand, or stares at you on couch and softly growles that he wants to be “under your lap blanket”. Worst traits are “barking” when hears someone pull into driveway (of course he is a small dog who makes up for his size with noise), whining/screaming like a lil’ girl when having his toenails clipped (my guess is he was clipped way too far back into the kwik), and not being around truly young kids who would attempt to pick him up (being a Full Size Dachshund, he’s too heavy for a young child to pick up anyway), he does absolutly fine with adults picking him up at anytime, but lightly growls at younger children picking him up as he was not treated well by the kids at his abusive home. He has 3 different growls: “happy growls” because he wants to be under your lap blanket, “referee growls” because he doesn’t want the other dogs fighting, and “unhappy growls” if a child tries to pick him up. He is a super HAPPY dog, very sweet and loving, and amazingly obedient. Deserves a Ranch type indoor/outdoor home, with other non-aggresive dogs, and room to catch varmits.
